Message from the Director

The near-universal use of information technology; the continual migration and movement of people;
multiculturalism and multilingualism are some of the factors that have contributed to the creation of a ‘world culture’. In this day and age, schools are responsible for equipping students with the tools they will need to ensure a secure future for themselves and for their community.
As well as passing on the knowledge, moral values and sound principles that have always been at the heart of good education, we now need to teach more skills, and higher level skills, than ever before. In order to do this we must re-examine the role and purpose of schools in Cypriot society, which means a re-evaluation of the curriculum at all levels of education. New times demand new thinking and at Xenion Education we are very aware of this and are read to meet the challenge.

Xenion Junior School is a dedicated Preschool and Junior School, established with great care and attention to detail to serve both the needs of students in the Famagusta area and those of international students. For more than four decades, we at Xenion have been delivering world-class education through our language institutes and our flagship secondary school, Xenion High School. During those years we have become aware of an increasing demand for an alternative to state primary schools, based on a growing public awareness of the need for a more European dimension in Cypriot primary education.

We have been carefully gathering knowledge and experience of how best to deliver the highest standard of
education for students aged four to twelve. We have also spent time building a team of experienced, fully-qualified educators and administrators who can realise our vision of a primary education for the twenty-first century yet rooted in the best traditions of teaching and learning. Graduates of Xenion Junior School will be ready to move on to secondary education anywhere of their parents’ choosing, whether at an international school in another country or here, in Cyprus. Wherever their future lies, they will be well-equipped to take on any challenge as they build their future and
that of their homeland. Xenion Junior School has been created with the future in mind and with a passion for excellence.

Establishment and Philosophy

Xenion Junior School was established and functions under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Culture and in accordance with relevant educational statutes.

The school offers to students in the Famagusta area and to students from abroad, an alternative to state preschool and primary education.

Students complete a Preschool programme.

Students complete a six-year, fully-comprehensive Primary course and are enrolled provided that they satisfy the entrance requirements.

The school was set up in order to satisfy the needs of students and fulfill parents’ expectations of a high-quality education, for the modern world.
The Junior School is based upon the same philosophy which has allowed our senior school to achieve, year after year, results which are truly world-class.
The founding motto of Xenion Education ”Knowledge is Freedom and Power” informs everything we do.
We aim to promote, through quality education, the values and characteristics that should distinguish the new European citizen, able to take their place anywhere in the world but retaining their national identity.

Aims and Goals

Xenion Junior School aims to help our students become young people who can think rationally, who are responsible and caring, are broad-minded, tolerant and aware of justice but most of all curious and motivated to learn.

Educational Aims

The provision of a broad-based primary education which will prepare young students for their future studies at any school of their choice, eliminating the need for extra lessons.
Creation of fluency in English, as well as Greek.
Development of the ability to take full advantage of new technology and the Internet.

School Premises

The Junior School is accommodated within its own wing of the Xenion Education Block A. It has its own access and space for parents to drop children off at school and pick them up in the afternoon. The Junior School has its own yard for break-times and students are supervised at all times.

The Preschool is located in Block C, close to the Junior School entrance.

All classes are equipped with air-conditioning, Interactive White Boards and internet access and they look directly onto the yard, which is closed off from the nearby road with a gate which is locked during school hours.

The Junior School has access to all the school’s facilities and students at the Junior school quickly become familiar with their wider surroundings, enabling those who wish to continue their education with us to make a smooth transition to the High School at a later date. Xenion Junior offers safe and secure surroundings to all its pupils. There is also a comfortable Reception area where parents can meet with teachers to discuss their child’s progress.

The safety of our students is paramount. Xenion Junior School has a Safeguarding Policy to ensure every child is safe and protected from harm. The full policy is available on the School website. To this end, there are set times and places for parents picking up or dropping off children. If a parent is going to be late or early for any reason they should contact the School so that we can make appropriate arrangements. Under normal circumstances, no-one is allowed to enter the school without an appointment and all visitors must report to the school receptionist.
