As the director of Xenion Boarding School, it is my distinct pleasure to address this publication.

Living on campus is a wonderful experience indeed. This new home is a diverse living environment offering many opportunities for personal growth which is based on converting routine into bright organized lifetime. Xenion Boarding School is a wonderful place to interact with people of different backgrounds and philosophies, all pursuing the same goal: education. We focus strongly on social experience and the success of our students.

Xenion Boarding School is the milestone, the new place to explore, the place full of new experiences, adventures, friendships, laughter, sharing, and unforgettable moments. It is a world of all possibilities, in which everything revolves around oneself and others; a world where children learn to trust in themselves and in others; a world in which they learn core values that will help them grow and develop throughout their lives.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your families into the boarding community at Xenion. Whether you are a returning boarder, or whether this is your first experience of being away from home, we are, most definitely, all in this together. Family support is as important in this way of life as the School itself.

Xenion is currently the largest school in Cyprus to offer boarding. Xenion Boarding House, opening in September 2020, is offering boarding accommodation to boys and girls from different countries from all over the world. At Xenion, we have a growing community of boy and girl boarders.

Living away from home is not always easy and this is understood by the resident staff who have plenty of experience of boarding; our aim is to make sure that our boarders are always happy in their life at school and in the boarding house. There is always someone available to ask for help or advice and boarders should understand that they can chat to resident staff, non-resident staff and fellow boarders at any time.

Xenion Boarding House is purpose-built boarding accommodation and offers a mixture of full, weekly and flexible boarding options to suit both boarder and parents.

Boarding offers an excellent opportunity to get the very best from school life. We are fortunate to have non-resident teaching staff who visit the boarding house on weekday evenings to assist with activities like craft, baking, quizzes, music and sport and who can offer academic support.

Weekend activities range from trips to waterparks to cultural visits and our weekend activities are a highlight for the boarders.

Behaviour & Supervision

The Boarding House is under the supervision of experienced House Parents who are also responsible for the welfare, safety and happiness of their charges. House parents are also responsible for making sure that students abide by the rules of the school; rules which are simple but designed to ensure that every student enjoys their time at Xenion Boarding School and benefits as much as possible from the experience.

The rules are based on the principles of civilised behaviour and respect for other people and their opinions, rights and possessions. In other words, our House Parents are not just there to ensure that students work as they should, but also to help them to grow as decent, mature individuals of whom their families can be proud. Students are expected to cooperate as members of the school community and to behave in an honest, responsible and considerate way at all times. There is a dress code and issues such as attendance at meals and leaving school or residence grounds are strictly controlled, as is the possession of harmful items or substances.

Daily routine

One of the most important things we can do to help our children to thrive is to provide structure and consistency in their lives, and a residential school is the ideal environment in which to do this. It provides a stable, predictable background against which young people can develop to their full potential.

Xenion Boarding School operates a pattern of set mealtimes, planned study and organised leisure which ensure that studentsʼ days are spent in a useful, constructive and purposeful manner. On weekdays, obviously, the daily routine revolves around the school day and includes time for extra-curricular activities and supervised study. Students also have some free time, in which to unwind after a busy day. At weekends, students are still expected to study but there is a greater emphasis on leisure, with more free time and also an extensive programme of excursions and activities.

Boarding Options

Full

Boarding Students on a full-time basis benefit not only from supervised study time and various activities during the week, but also enjoy the full programme of weekend activities. During the week, boarders concentrate on their academic studies, as well as participating in a wide range of leisure and sporting activities. Weekends are a time for fun, with lots of opportunities to learn new skills, enjoy trips out and pursue interests.

Activities offered at Xenion Boarding School:

There are plenty of activities offered at Xenion High School and the Boarding House. As a result, Boarders truly do have the best of both worlds. Whilst they can enjoy the great range of activities provided by the School, the Boarding House also offers an extensive activity package that Boarders can take advantage of during the week and at the weekend.

Each evening from 19:30-20:30 there is always a Boarding activity provided which the students can opt to participate in. These activities range from using the School site for weekly sports (futsal, basketball, volleyball, tennis) to the Xenion Boarding House swimming pool for sports such as swimming and water polo.

Our aim is to provide students with different interests, varying activities in which to participate. Hiking in the mountains and distance running, sports competitions, fitness and dance sessions, chess nights, cinema nights, road and boat trips, cultural events are only a few of the weekday and weekend activities offered to our Boarding students. Our students have the chance to participate in truly outstanding, memory-making experiences.
